The Swansea Council run workshop manufactures an extensive range of mattresses, bed styles and sizes including the very latest orthorelaxor beds which use the latest foam and electrical adjustments technology and currently employ around 90 people in the factory and placements with a range of disabilities.
The contemporary Showroom in Morriston is a world away from the original workshops established in 1865 to alleviate the poor conditions encountered by blind children in Swansea, who had been begging to survive. In 1961 the original charity was taken over by Swansea Friends of the Blind and Disabled and the Workshop for the Blind and the bed and furnishing making began.
In 1974 the Swansea Workshop for the Blind was taken over by the local authority and now trades under the name of Suresprung Furnishings.
